South Dakota economic development booming

Business is growing in the state of South Dakota. Scott Stern is Commissioner of the Governor’s Office of Economic Development. He says 2018 is off to a great start. “Currently we’ve done 27 projects that our office has been involved with,” said Stern. “With $1.15-billion dollars worth of capital expenditures that are going to be coming to this state.”

Stern says that’s up from around $600-million dollars in 2016 and $735-million dollars in 2017.

He says the Governor’s Office of Economic Development is focused on direct jobs such as manufacturing, value-added agriculture and food processing.

Stern was in Mitchell Tuesday attending the grand-opening of Vantage Point Solutions 25,000 square foot expansion.
