Republican sweep

It was a GOP sweep Tuesday as Republicans captured the Governor’s and Attorney General’s offices, along with all constitutional offices plus retained a seat on the public Utilities Commission and a seat in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Congresswoman Kristi Noem outdistanced Democratic State Senator Billie Sutton of Burke to win the Governor’s race. Yankton Attorney Jason Ravnsborg defeated former U.S. Attorney Democrat Randy Seiler for Attorney General. Steve Barnett won the Secretary of State’s race. Josh Haeder is the Treasurer-elect. Rich Sattgast will once again serve as State Auditor. Incumbent Ryan Brunner will continue as Commissioner of School and Public Lands. Kristie Fiegen won another six-year term on the Public Utilities Commission. And Dusty Johnson easily won the U.S. House race.

Jones County reported an 80% voter turnout.
