A 37 year old Mitchell man is headed to prison after pleading no contest to DUI and hit and run resulting in injury. In exchange for the no-contest pleas, prosecutors dismissed six related charges against Ricky Ferguson.
He was accused of driving a minivan while under the influence and hitting two teenagers on a moped in Mitchell on June 17th. Ferguson left the scene and was later caught by Police. He was on parole at the time. The teenagers suffered minor injuries.
Judge Chris Giles sentenced Ferguson to eighteen months in prison to be served concurrently with a previous sentence and revoked his driving privileges for a year beginning when he’s released. Ferguson was given credit for time he already served in jail.
