Daredevil Cole Freeman took a page out of legendary stuntman Evel Knievel’s book when he became the first person to jump a 2015 Harley-Davidson Road Glide motorcycle ramp to ramp in front of the Corn Palace.
Freeman shattered a record, his ramp and his motorcycle and completed the jump safely. “I do this just like Evel did, by the seat of my pants,” Freeman told the crowd. “I’m just trying to pay homage to Evel Knievel and keep it going.”
He flew the thousand-pound bagger motorcycle nearly 100 feet, beating his previous record of 72 feet, much to the delight of the crowd that lined Main Street as part of the first Palace City Pre-Sturgis Party.
Freeman says he’s like to return and do it again next year.
