USDA expects corn to surpass soybeans in 2019

The USDA recently released some crop and livestock projections for next year, which the department traditionally does this time of year as part of the federal budgeting process.

Included in the statistical guesses are acreage numbers for U.S. corn and soybeans.

USDA expects corn acres to increase nearly 3 million to 92 million, and predicts soybeans will be down over 6 million to 82.5 million.

Stewart-Peterson senior market adviser Naomi Blohm says the reduction on soybeans is not a surprise.
