Roundtable focuses on beef sustainability

The U.S. Roundtable for Sustainable Beef has begun a 60-day public comment period on its Sustainability Framework.  Roundtable chairperson Kim Stackhouse-Lawson of JBS USA says the framework focuses on, among other things, succession planning from the standpoint of resource management.

“That’s first what success looks like to me is that beef production exists in 20 years and in 50 years and in 100 years,” Stackhouse-Lawson told Brownfield Ag News Friday, “and that we’re to pass this industry down to our children.”

The roundtable highlights the importance of cattle and effective grazing management plans that improve soil carbon sequestration, said Stackhouse-Lawson.
