Nebraska Farm Bureau passes meat labeling resolution

Nebraska Farm Bureau delegates, at their recent annual meeting, supported a resolution to prevent plant-based and lab-produced protein makers from using the word “meat” or other meat-related terms to describe their products.

Farm Bureau first vice president, Mark McHargue of Central City, who is a pork producer, says the labeling issue is an important one.

“We are very proud of our production and how we raise protein. But we also recognize that how we raise protein today is really a lot different than even 50 years ago,” McHargue says.
